50 Years of MGB

There will be special celebrations at the 2012 Silverstone Classic this year as it’s the 50th birthday of the MGB. Without doubt one of Britain’s most popular and respected sportscars there will be a large turnout this year for what is always a very popular event. The 2012 Silverstone Classic will be taking place on 20-22 July.

MG and Silverstone have a relationship which goes back many years with the old MG factory just down the road in South Oxfordshire.

Can you believe we are now in 2012? It seems like 2011 flew by but already we’re preparing for an exciting year of motor racing. 2012 will see the return of some of your favourites events including the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, BTCC and MotoGP.

Just like previous years we will keep you up to date with all the news, information, dates and everything else you need for your visit to Silverstone and the surrounding areas. With the current economic climate everyone is looking for a great deal and we will do our best this year to bring you all the best hotel and accommodation deals.

2011 Britcar 24 Hours

The Britcar 24 Hours is nearly upon us and we’re all excited for this years event! Last year was an exciting battle which saw many cars fight for position in the grueling 24 hour race around the world famous Silverstone circuit.

With only a couple of days to sort your tickets and accommodation we highly recommend you don’t leave it to the last minute! You can find ticket information on the Silverstone website, and if you would like to stay at a hotel or bed and breakfast near Silverstone to you can search using this website. Lots to look forward to in October

If you take a look at the Silverstone Events Calendar for October 2011 you will notice that there are some great events taking please.

The month kicks off with the Britcar 24 Hours on Saturday 1st – Sunday 2nd, then there is the British F3/GT Championships, followed by the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), then the Historic Sports Car Club Event. Last but not least is the popular 750 Motor Club Event on Saturday 29th October.

If you were watching the BBC’s coverage of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza you may have noticed that the 2012 Formula 1 calendar has been released. This is good news for you race fans as it means you can plan in advance what races you want to go to it and make arrangements accordingly.

The date for the 2012 Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone is Sunday 8th July 2012. Practice will start on the Friday (6th July) with qualifying being held on Saturday 7th July.

Because of the whole TV rights saga we don’t yet know if the British Grand Prix will be shown on the BBC (we hope it is). However, for you diehard race fans then you won’t be bothered either way because you’ll most likely be at the circuit itself! 2011 AUTOSPORT 6 Hours of Silverstone

This weekend will see a return of the AUTOSPORT 6 Hours of Silverstone which is one of the most popular events in International Motorsport.

Taking place from Friday 9th – Sunday 11th September 2011 this event is hugely popular as it’s part of the Le Mans Series. Tickets start from just £12.00 per person are are available on the Official Silverstone website.

With the changing weather conditions of late it will be an exciting and unpredictable race where the top manufacturers will do battle around the fast Silverstone circuit. Like always there will be plenty of track action and attractions at the circuit. You will be pleased to know there is a FREE Open Paddock, Grandstand Seating and Car Parking.

Renault World Series 2011

World Series by Renault is coming to Silverstone on Saturday 20th to Sunday 21st August 2011. It’s your chance to get up close to many fantastic Renaults including classic race cars and modern day hot hatches. There will be some great track action to watch and much more for the whole family.

In previous years there have been Formula 1 demonstrations, Clio Cup Racing, Meganes and lots more so it’s a great event! The best thing about the event is that it’s FREE – simply head over to the World Series by Renault website here and book your tickets for the event.
